Sell Your Art on Squidoo: A Guide To Modules
Squidoo is a popular social network that lets people create a single webpage, called a lens, on most any topic of their choice. It’s a fabulous place to display your artwork because the site ranks high in Google (which means the possibility of more visitors). Artists also enjoy Squidoo because it’s easy to create a stunning page using templates. Each section is called a module, and there are lots to choose. In editing mode, you can find categories of modules on the top part of your ‘workshop’. Here are some of the best modules for an art lens.
* Text module – This module is pretty self-explanatory. You need to have a few text modules in a lens because content attracts visitors. Write an introduction, and then use the other text modules for descriptions of an art piece. Text modules are versatile because they also include a place for a photo and accept HTML code. It’s great if you know HTML, a language code that lets you do special things like making links, changing fonts, or arranging photos. If HTML scares you, don’t worry. You can use other types of modules to add those types of things.
* Text with BIG Picture module – This is similar to the regular text module, except this one lets you upload a huge photo. It adds some variety to your lens. You can decide to add text or just
* Video module – Video is hot right now. You can start with videos of your art pieces, art instruction, or other anything related to your art business. This video module supports downloads from YouTube, Revver, Vimeo, and Howcast. There is also a YouTube module, which makes it easy to add the URL from your YouTube channel right to your lens. For visitor interaction, try the YouTube Voting module, which lets visitors vote on the videos.
* Amazon, Ebay, CafePress, Zazzle, Flickr – these modules are from other popular sites. If you already sell your art or show your photos on one of these, add these modules. It’s easy to upload content from the other sites, and your work will get double exposure, a positive thing for art marketing.
* Countdown – a fun module that lets you set a visual countdown timer. You could use a countdown for an upcoming sale or gallery opening. Add the event title and date, and the module automatically starts counting down the days until your event. Build the excitement!
